The current data set consists of monthly means of bulk transfer coefficient on a global 2.5x2.5 grid for the 11 years time period of 1987-1997. Scaling factor for converting into physical value is 1.0 . Flags are 9999 for land data and -9999 for ice.
This data has been originally developed in a working group on satellite remote sensing at the University Hamburg and the Max-Planck-Institut for Meteorology, Hamburg, Germany. They were replaced with time by continually improved versions through the HOAPS project, which is now hosted at the EUMETSAT Climate-Monitoring Satellite Application Facility (CM-SAF) at the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach, Germany. The most actual version of the dataset - HOAPS-4 - is described and can be accessed under https://www.cmsaf.eu/EN/Overview/OurProducts/Hoaps/Hoaps_node.html
