The tarfiles include hourly files with the 3D-output of the simulation and some additional surface fields. All variables needed to use the files as forcing for higher resolution simulations are combined in these files. They contain:
 FRESHSNW (2D, freshness of snow),
 PP (3D, air_pressure difference_of_air_pressure_from_model_reference),
 QC (3D, mass_fraction_of _cloud_liquid_water_in_air),
 QI (3D, mass_fraction_of _cloud_ice_in_air),
 QR (3D, mass_fraction_of _rain_in_air),
 QS (3D, mass_fraction_of_snow_in_air),
 QV (3D, specific_humidity),
 QV_S (2D, surface_specific_humidity),
 T (3D, air_temperature),
 T_S (2D, soil surface temperature),
 T_SNOW (2D, surface_temperature_where_snow),
 T_SO (3D, soil_temperature),
 U (3D, grid_eastward_wind),
 V (3D, grid_northward_wind),
 W (3D, upward_air_velocity),
 W_I (2D, canopy_water_amount),
 W_SO (3D, lwe_thickness_of_moisture _content_of_soil_layer), and
 W_SNOW (2D, lwe_thickness_of_surface_snow_amount).
The corresponding level height HHL is given in coastDat2_COSMO-CLM_fx.
