ICON-ESM simulations for the investigation of permafrost cloud feedback

de Vrese, Philipp et al.

Dataset
Summary
6 simulations with adapted ICON model (adapted from ICON Earth System Model Version 1.0, see Jungclaus et al., 2022, de Vrese et al., 2024) targeting the potential climate impact of the permafrost cloud feedback. The simulations use two setups with respect to the permafrost hydrology – one in which permafrost degradation results in an increase in hydraulic connectivity and one in which bottom layer drainage is suppressed within the initial permafrost domain (pi-conditions) – and cover 3 GHG scenarios – end-of-the-21st-century concentrations of SSP126, SSP245, SSP585.
